Title: Metis Survivor Family Wellness, Phase 3
Project Description:
The Metis Survivor Family Wellness Program will conduct the following
in Metis communities of the participating Manitoba Metis Federation
Regions:
1. Ongoing use of education and video materials developed during Phase 1 and 2;
2. development and maintenance of 6 Wellness Advisory Groups (WAG) per region (total of 24);
3. regional gatherings with a focus on the process of wellness and healing;
4. consultation with Metis youth at Regional Gatherings to address intergenerational impacts;
5. distribution and training in the use of manuals on program development and small group processes of individual survivors and descendants;
6. provision of counsellors for individual/family counselling, closed group (10 weeks each) counselling, and facilitating the WAGs (sharing circles);
7. implementation of the community wellness planning process developed in Phase 2; and
8. providing support to spouses of residential school survivors.
