Project Title:
Healing The Generations 2
Project Description: The Healing The Generations project addresses the multi generational impacts of residential schools, encourages community information gathering and awareness, develops tools to promote healing and provides training to facilitate community based programming through delivery of regular healing circles, provision of awareness workshops and training the trainer sessions.
EXPECTED RESULTS
1.
Youth will understand the damage that has been done to their elders and
parents affecting everyone's ability to properly take care of their
families.
2.
Seeing the community involved in this 'restoration' initiative will
help in their search for a home base, which is the foundation that
holds the culture together.
3.
Children will receive the proper guidance and caring from people who
are beginning to understand the needs of children in terms of nurturing.
4.
Off reserve members will see the factors that played to make their
elders leave their home communities and will create an understanding
that will encourage them to re establish links
with kin and community.
5. Understanding the purpose of total institutions and the role it played in cultural change
and character transformation will help the survivors and communities deal with a malfunctioning
system called their community.
6. Awareness of this injury will make people want to break the cycle of abuse and looking
at different ways of doing and behaving.
